This session will introduce high school science educators to the Colorado GROW Youth Institute (GROW) as an opportunity to engage students in exploring the role of science in solving global food security challenges. GROW catalyzes a network of youth interested in addressing global food security and is affiliated with the World Food Prize Foundation’s network of Youth Institutes. Educators will learn about what the GROW event entails, the opportunities it offers to participating students, and the global challenge research project that students must complete as their ticket to participation in GROW. Resources will be presented as they relate to science education standards, and educators will participate in an example activity that can be used to introduce students to the sustainable development goals, the work of World Food Prize laureates, and the role of science in advancing global food security.
