2024 Colorado Science Conference

We at the Downtown Aquarium in Denver are offering two new programs called Animal Training 101, and Home Aquarium 101! These programs are designed for ages 16 and up. We use knowledge from Biology, Ecology, and Psychology to develop lessons about how to train animals and how to maintain an aquatic tank at home. For our program, we will discuss how we implemented the science lessons we learned in high school and college in our workplace at the aquarium. Session attendees will get a sneak peek into curriculum that we will explain in depth during our new 4 part programs. There will be audience participation aspects as well as information about these programs and others we offer for younger students. This session will also give teachers resources they can pass on to any of their students who are interested in pursuing a job in the field of aquariums and zoos.
